Character Information

Name: Lenneth Valkyrie
Canon: Valkyrie Profile
Canon Point: Shortly after Lenneth's descent to Midgard at the beginning of the game
Age: ??? She appears 23.
History: Honestly not much to her!
Personality:

With her memories sealed, Lenneth is distant, aloof, and almost cold. She knows only life as a goddess, and that just briefly, and her only memory is of her duty. She doesn't understand mortals, though unlike many gods, she doesn't hold them in any particular sort of contempt -- she even admires them a little. When it comes to talking with them, though, she doesn't hesitate to speak the truth -- even if it's horrifically blunt. At one point early in the game, when newly-dead Llewelyn is bemoaning his beloved's misery, Lenneth tells him to his face that by dying on her, he's killed her as effectively as if he shot her with an arrow himself. Ouch.

Despite this bluntness and the frequent frost in her voice, Lenneth is surprisingly kind in her actions. Unlike most gods, she believes that deities can in fact help humans, and should do so. In the aforementioned scene with Llewelyn, Lenneth was actually pushing him to speak to his beloved one last time, which her powers would enable (though she grumbles about not being a love goddess while doing so). She permits others to sacrifice their own souls to preserve the lives of others -- though she can't bring people back to life directly, she can maintain a balance of one living, one dead. She struggles to understand why people do what they do, particularly when love is involved. Interestingly, she herself does not seem adverse to the idea of a relationship, although she comes off as completely unable to understand them on a level she can express. When Lucien expresses an interest in her before heading off to Asgard, she does kiss him, and briefly regrets that a god and a human cannot be together... even though she hadn't shown any interest in him or made any advances towards him up till this point. Her own thoughts are sometimes a mystery even to her, thanks to her suppressed memories.

Against enemies, and particularly the undead or those who employ dark magics, Lenneth is an implacable foe. She has no patience for their schemes, no tolerance for their speeches, and no pity for their protestations. In battle, she is confident and almost a little cocky; she IS a warrior goddess, after all, and she can be quick with a taunt or a snappy remark when she gains an advantage. In contrast to her usual aloof behavior, she really gets into dramatic speeches against them as well -- considering her home pantheon is Norse-light, ham is always on the menu somewhere.

Gods and humans are not supposed to mix, and so ordinarily Lenneth adopts a human guise and the name of "Meril" when she manifests among humans. Her true name is actually unknown to most everyone she meets or travels with; they typically refer to her by title instead.

Abilities:

Lenneth has a remarkable ability with a blade or a bow; she is a goddess of war and endings, after all. Coupled with this, she has great strength and agility, and is capable of high leaps and pushing heavy objects, the usual sorts of things.

In the mortal world -- Midgard, or in our case the Near Shore, Lenneth does not actually have a physical body. Instead, she wields the power of Divine Material Energy, which allows her to manifest a physical, material form. When not using this, she exists solely in the spirit world, from which she can observe the mortal realm without being observed in term. In Asgard (or the Far Shore), she has a normal (albeit divine) body.

Physical damage to her materialized body does not kill or permanently harm here, but if it is discorporated for long enough, she is thrown back to the spirit world, from which she must re-manifest.

Lenneth possesses divine armor and weapons, which she can conjure or dismiss at will, trading it for her civilian garb in a matter of moments. She also possess the ability to fly.

Chooser of the Slain: A Valkyrie's job is to gather Einherjar. As Chooser of the Slain, Lenneth can enter a state of Spiritual Concentration, in which she can sense the souls of those worthy to become Einherjar who about to die and locate them. Once she travels to their location, at the moment of their death she can align her soul to theirs, Choosing them as an Einherjar. By doing this, she can manifest physical bodies for them with DME, allowing them to fight at her side. The other half of Spiritual Concentration allows her to sense foes and enemies -- the undead, those who have put themselves outside the gods' realm, or particularly malevolent forces that demand a response from Asgard. By fighting these, she may train her Einherjar into greater warriors. (This power also gives her wings, which... have absolutely nothing to do with her ability to fly in any way.)

Nibelung Valesti: A finishing blow which, when invoked, comprises a series of blows from her weapon followed by the foe being impaled on three lances of divine energy. While the foe is so trapped, Lenneth rises into the air and summons a dragon-lance, which she then hurls to deadly effect.

Ice Crystals: Lenneth can hurl a bolt of ice magic that freezes into a large ice crystal. It can freeze enemies, be used as a stepping stone, be shattered to propel anyone near it away, and the remaining dust can be used as a platform or stepping stone.

Materialize Points: Not the same as DME, Materialize Points can be formed into weapons, armor, or items -- or said items may be dissolved into Materialize Points. Objects may also be transmuted into other items.

Strengths:

Raw physical power.
Unflinching resolve.
Commitment to duty.
Kindness and compassion in deed.
The willingness to do what she believes is right.

Weaknesses:

Emotional fragility beneath iron walls.
A lack of understanding of humans.
Knows only her duty; needs to learn everything else.
Coldness and even occasional cruelty in her voice.
Imperious arrogance against foes and the foolish.

God/Shinki: God.
Why?: Sheeee's a god. It's pretty much her thing. Plus she already has some shinki-like traits in canon, obvious, what with the sealed memory and being used as Odin's tool, so she needs to grow in a way that being a shinki will complicate or make impossible.
Top 3 Choices: Osiris, Eir, Charon
God Type: Lenneth will favor prayers that involve battle, particularly against the ayakashi, to whom she will be an implacable foe. Prayers that might involve death will also be of interest to her. In general, her sympathy for mortals will lead her to try to help them when possible.
Power: Energy Well. Lenneth possess an incredible amount of swiftly-replenishing power, which she can use to augment her own ability (Materialize Points) or, by touch, enhance the abilities of others by boosting their own abilities with extra power.

Anything Else?:

Can Lenneth keep Choosing the Slain in-game? It'd basically amount to have a few NPCs who could come out to help her fight... it's fine if not, it's just thematic.
